Jackson, Mississippi — July 24, 2015 — Governor Phil Bryant and officials from Universal Services, an HVAC/R and electrical and mechanical contractor, announce the company is expanding operations at its facility in Leakesville, Mississippi, in Greene County. The project represents a corporate investment of $215,000 and will create 30 jobs.
“I appreciate the team at Universal Services for choosing to increase its capabilities in Leakesville and for creating new jobs for the area’s workforce,” Governor Phil Bryant said. “The company’s investment and these new jobs will benefit the local community for years to come. I thank the Universal Services team for helping demonstrate that Mississippi is a great place for companies to grow and be successful.”
“We appreciate the assistance extended by the state of Mississippi, as well as our local governmental agencies, in our efforts to expand and increase the economic opportunities for the citizens of Mississippi and our surrounding neighbors. Particularly instrumental in this venture was guidance provided by the Mississippi Development Authority, Greene County and the Town of Leakesville,” said Universal Services Administrative Director Lana Dobbins. “The guidance and assistance provided to us has allowed us to remain based in South Mississippi, which gives us the opportunity to service a diverse group of clients while drawing from an excellent pool of skilled and hardworking people to fill positions with our company.  We would wholeheartedly recommend Greene County and the state of Mississippi to any entity looking to establish or expand an industrial-based operation.”
Mississippi Development Authority provided assistance in support of the project for an access road. The town of Leakesville provided assistance, as well.
“MDA is glad to assist Universal Services as it expands and creates new career opportunities for Mississippians in Leakesville and the surrounding areas,” said MDA Executive Director Glenn McCullough. “We are grateful for the dedication of our partners at the town of Leakesville, whose hard work brought this project to fruition. MDA congratulates Universal Services on this expansion, and we have faith that the company will have many more years of success in Southeast Mississippi.”
