Mississippi Development Authority to lead Business Development Mission at 10th Annual Southeastern U.S. – Canadian Provinces Alliance Event in Toronto
Jackson, Mississippi — May 4, 2017 — The Mississippi Development Authority will lead a delegation of Mississippi business leaders and economic development professionals at the 10th Annual Southeastern U.S. – Canadian Provinces Alliance Conference. The event, Trade Partnerships at Work, will take place June 4-6 at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
“As Mississippi’s top trade partner, Canada shares strong economic ties with our state evidenced by vibrant trade with our businesses,” said Mississippi Development Authority Executive Director Glenn McCullough, Jr. “The SEUS-CP annual event is an effective, efficient opportunity for Mississippi companies, along with economic development professionals, to forge new partnerships with our SEUS-CP colleagues in the Canadian market.”
The SEUS-CP Alliance is a strategic partnership which promotes trade and investment opportunities between its member states and provinces. In addition to Mississippi, member states include Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee. Member provinces include Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island and Québec.
The event will feature the Business-to-Business Matchmaking Program, which identifies potential strategic partnerships and business development opportunities between delegates. Pre-scheduled, one-on-one meetings and panel discussions will take place in the following key sectors: automotive, information and communication technologies and clean technology.
Grant assistance to defray the cost of participating in the business development mission is available on a first-come, first-served basis through the U.S. Small Business Administration-funded Mississippi State Trade Expansion Program. This includes up to 50 percent of travel costs, including airfare, lodging and per diem, free pre-mission market research and business potential assessment and a customized itinerary and logistical support.
