"Small Business Summit" to be held in Natchez
Natchez, Miss. (April 12, 2013) – On April 23, 2013, “Entrepreneur Explosion: A Small Business Summit” will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Natchez Convention Center, located at 211 Main Street in Natchez, Miss.
Sponsored by the Mississippi Development Authority (MDA), Natchez, Inc. and Alcorn State University (ASU), the summit will feature representatives from the federal, state and regional levels who will share information about how to start, grow and maintain a small business in southwest Mississippi. Federal agencies that will be represented include the U.S. Department of Agriculture, U.S. Small Business Administration, U.S. Department of Commerce and the Delta Regional Authority, and state entities include MDA, Innovate Mississippi, Mississippi State University, the Mississippi Arts Commission and the Rural Jobs Accelerator.
“Small businesses are essential to the state’s economy, and this summit will provide useful information to potential entrepreneurs interested in turning their dream of owning a business into a reality,” said MDA Executive Director Brent Christensen, noting that the event will include panel discussions with individuals that have a broad range of expertise, as well as well-planned sessions. “I encourage residents in southwest Mississippi interested in starting a successful business to make plans to attend.”
In addition to panel discussions, the summit will cover topics such as Customer Service that Sizzles, with speaker Sarah Smith, alderwoman for the City of Natchez; Show Me The Money, with speakers Janice Bruce, senior vice president of Delta Bank and Doug Charboneau, entrepreneur and owner of Twin Oaks Bed and Breakfast; and Techno-Marketing Blast, with speakers Clara Stamps, ASU vice president of media relations and Chance McDavid, regional e-BEAT coordinator for Mississippi State University.
