Oceans In Action Workshop

Gulf of Mexico in Biloxi

The Marine Technology Society (MTS) Gulf Coast Section and the Mississippi Enterprise for Technology (MSET) are hosting the fifth annual Oceans In Action Workshop on August 20, 2015 at Stennis Space Center.
The purpose of the workshop is to showcase the many facets of marine technology used by federal and state agencies, regional associations, universities, and industry on the Gulf Coast to support a wide variety of real-world issues. Updates on federal agencies will be presented by:

  • Admiral Timothy Gallaudet, Naval Meteorology and Oceanography Command
  • Robert Rhodes, Naval Research Laboratory, Ocean Modeling
  • Helmut Portmann, Director NOAA’s National Data Buoy Center
  • Duane Armstrong, NASA Applied Sciences Directorate
  • William Sheed, Bureau of Ocean Energy Management

Additional features include:

  • Gulf of Mexico Alliance Program Update
  • GCOOS Update
  • Presentations on three new technologies furthering marine technology operations
  • Business matchmaking hosted by Mississippi Enterprise for Technology
  • Additions to the program as they are confirmed

 
Who should attend? Anyone in any field of marine technology wishing to:

  • Network with local agency and prime contractor representatives
  • Learn more about the programs and projects at Stennis and in the area
  • Meet with agency and prime contractor Science and Technology Officers and Small Business Specialists
  • Begin developing relationships with other, similar companies in the area or expand existing partnerships
