Ben Barron is a Foreign Affairs Officer in the Department of State’s Office of Economic Sanctions Policy and Implementation (SPI), and serves as the office’s lead on Cuba sanctions. He currently focuses on developing, implementing, and advancing U.S. economic and financial sanctions in support of U.S. foreign policy and national security interests and objectives, with a particular focus on the January 2015 Cuba sanctions regulatory changes and Syria. In his present role, he regularly engages with the private sector and representatives from like-minded governments on the use and application of sanctions. Mr. Barron has traveled to more than a dozen European capitals in support of US-EU sanctions cooperation and has also contributed to a number of US government programs and initiatives related to export licensing and controls.
Seth Wyngowski is a Foreign Affairs Officer in the State Department’s Office of the Coordinator for Cuban Affairs. He works primarily on economic sanctions policy issues with respect to Cuba, and has been with the State Department for four years. Seth’s other positions have included temporary work at the U.S. Consulate General in Rio de Janeiro, and as the desk officer for Sri Lanka and the Maldives. Most recently, he was part of the interagency team that worked on revisions to Cuba sanctions regulations to implement the President’s December 17, 2014, policy announcement. During his time at the State Department, Seth has received seven Department awards.
