Bob Covington is the Chief Community Development and Leadership Officer of the Mississippi Development Authority. He leads the following divisions to promote community and leadership development across the state: Minority and Small Business, Energy, the Entrepreneur Center and Asset Development.
Bob has an extensive background in promoting community assets, as he was the director of the Minority and Small Business Development Division for seven years. As director, Bob oversaw the overall management of the division, as well as developing and implementing short-term and long-range plans to assist small businesses in gaining access to procurement opportunities and building capacity, particularly among minority- and women-owned businesses throughout Mississippi.
Prior to becoming the director of the division, Bob worked for five years as the Business Development and Trade manager of the division.
He attended Mississippi State University, where he received both his bachelor’s degree and Master of Business Administration.
