Look closely and you’ll see a flourishing industry hiding in plain sight. Mississippi is home to quite a few enterprising outdoor companies specializing in camouflage design and merchandising. An outdoorsman’s paradise, Mississippi provides visitors and locals alike generous hunting seasons and bag limits with more than 1,000 square miles of public hunting lands. With numerous hunting opportunities and enthusiasts, homegrown camouflage companies such Drake, Longleaf and Mossy Oak have started up and built profitable businesses in Mississippi.

Drake
Based out of Olive Branch, Miss., Drake has been in operation since 2002 and specializes in waterfowl hunting gear. Drake offers high-quality hunting gear “systems” for early, mid and late hunting seasons, casual wear, accessories and duck calls. More than 600 dealers across the nation sell Drake products to area customers.

Longleaf
Longleaf produces all-terrain camouflage patterns in West Point, Miss. Longleaf’s ultra-realistic, original designs help hunters blend in with their environment whether in an open field or thick forest. To capitalize on sought-after designs, Longleaf has experienced tremendous growth by licensing patterns to interested parties.

A Mississippi success story, the Mossy Oak outdoor brand began and remains headquartered in West Point, Miss. The company has been in business since 1986 and revolutionized the camouflage industry with its original designs.
