Jackson, Mississippi — Governor Phil Bryant and officials from Towanda Metadyne Inc., manufacturer of precision high-tech materials and components, announce the acquisition of the former Hydro Carbide facility in Gulfport, Mississippi. The project represents a substantial corporate investment and will create 20 jobs. The new division, Metadyne Gulfport LLC, is expected to begin operations by mid-November.
Metadyne’s products are used in a multitude of industries, including mining, construction, metal-cutting and defense applications. The primary component of the company’s products is tungsten carbide. Metadyne is able to recycle tungsten carbide using its proprietary process to produce a high-quality tungsten carbide grade powder.
“I appreciate the team at Towanda Metadyne for choosing to expand their operations to Gulfport, bringing new life to an existing facility and creating new jobs for the area’s workforce,” Gov. Bryant said. “Mississippi competes on a global scale, including in advanced manufacturing, and I thank the company chose to bring these jobs to Harrison County. I wish the Metadyne team many years of success in Gulfport.”

Mississippi Development Authority and Harrison County provided assistance in support of the project to repave the parking lot, fence in the property and construct an employee pavilion.
