Energy Efficient Public Buildings

The Energy Division has developed several programs aimed to reduce energy consumption in public buildings at the state and local levels and reduce those costs to the state budget.

Lead by Example $9,950,000
MDA has partnered with the Department of Finance and Administration (DFA), the state agency responsible for state –owned buildings, to achieve energy savings in targeted public facilities through energy efficiency measures, retrofits, retro-commissioning and smart metering. DFA is responsible for awarding contract services based on state procurement procedures.

Performance Contracting $6,900,000
The Energy Division has awarded ten grants to public institutions to help finance energy saving upgrades through performance contracting. For a list of awards, please click here.

Building Energy Codes $150,000
The Energy Division will partner with the Building Code Council to provide training on energy efficiency codes to the commercial, industrial and residential sectors. MDA will also work with local communities to educate them on the benefits of energy building codes.
