Neighborhood Stabilization Program

The Housing and Economic Recovery Act of 2008 (HERA) allocated $43,151,914 in Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP) funds to Mississippi, as an adjunct to the Community Development Block Grant Program, for activities related to the stabilization of neighborhoods impacted by the foreclosed housing crisis. This program targets low, moderate and middle-income homebuyers and offers tangible assistance to help communities rebound from escalating foreclosures. Communities with the highest percentage of home foreclosures and the highest percentage of homes financed by subprime loans have been targeted to receive assistance. MDA's Community Services Division is administering the NSP funds Mississippi has received.

The NSP will include two program activities:

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 will provide a second round of funding for the NSP on a nationally competitive basis. For more information, please select: ARRA Neighborhood Stabilization Program funds.
