Mississippi Experiences Growth in the Energy Sector

Mississippi saw considerable growth in the clean energy sector during 2010, and that growth continued into the beginning of 2011. Five companies—four new to Mississippi—have committed to manufacturing clean energy and clean energy-related products in different areas of the state. Using Mississippi’s skilled workforce, and, in many cases, the state’s natural resources, these corporations will produce everything from renewable fuels to solar panels and energy-saving glass. These exciting ventures help place Mississippi as an emerging leader in the clean energy sector, and they also will make a significant economic impact on the state. Together, these announced projects represent total corporate investments of over $3.7 billion in Mississippi and will create more than 3,000 jobs.
