MDA Energy Division Honors Mississippi Organizations For Conservation, Efficiency Energy Projects

Seven Mississippi entities have been recognized for their achievements in conservation and the efficient use of energy and water at the State Energy Management Program’s (SEMP’s) 2011 State Energy and Water Management Awards presentation.

SEMP is a conservation initiative of the Mississippi Development Authority’s (MDA’s) Energy Division, undertaken in conjunction with the Mississippi Energy Coordinators Association (MECA). Launched following the passage of the State Energy Management Law of 1981, SEMP provides for the development and implementation of an energy management plan pertaining to all state-owned or state-leased buildings and facilities, as well as public school district-owned properties. The Energy Division’s SEMP program strives to reduce energy costs and the environmental impact of state government facilities while promoting energy efficiency and water conservation.
