The Economic Development Group focuses its efforts in business recruitment and retention, and minority and small business, tourism and export development.
The Global Business Division recruits domestic and overseas companies to Mississippi. Working with local economic developers throughout the state, the Division helps companies identify and secure appropriate buildings, sites and locations and arrange other government services such as environmental permitting, employee recruitment, screening and training.
The Trade Bureau of the Global Business Division helps Mississippi companies improve their business prospects through international trade. The Bureau provides international business training, technical export assistance and sponsors a variety of international trade missions.
The Asset Development Group pursues innovative ways to develop unique Mississippi assets such as cultural heritage, natural resources and small town life styles.
The Regional Services Bureau of the Asset Development Division provides services to businesses, communities and individuals from eight regional offices throughout the state.
The Existing Industry and Business Division promotes the vitality of existing in-state industries through a variety of marketing, information and technical assistance programs.
The Minority & Small Business Development Division promotes entrepreneurship and provides technical and financial assistance to minority-owned, women-owned and small businesses enterprises so that they can compete more successfully.
The Energy Division works with the U.S. Department of Energy and seeks to encourage alternative and renewable energy usage and the development of in-state energy production, using natural resources and production waste assets.
The Marketing and Communications Division is responsible for the agency's media and public relations, research and marketing and advertising.
The Tourism Development Division works with various partners throughout the state to promote tourism in Mississippi.
